Spare parts for the Gem Slicer Standard and the Gem Slicer Mini leave Sofia the same day they are ordered and reach most of the EU the next day. The parts that wear are standard and sold worldwide, the machine is covered for two years, and software support and cutting advice last for the life of the machine. This is the part most manufacturers leave vague, so here it is precisely.
The Machine Does Not Come Back to Us
A saw returned to Bulgaria for repair is a saw you are not using, for weeks, plus freight in both directions. So we designed against it. We ship you the part and you fit it yourself, with us on the phone or on the machine over AnyDesk if you want us there.
| Destination | Dispatch | Arrival |
|---|---|---|
| EU zone 1 | same day | next day, DHL |
| USA | same day | 3 days |
| Madagascar | same day | 3 days |
We know the numbers because we have done it, not because we estimated them. Dispatch is the part we control; outside the EU, customs can add time.
What Wears, and What It Costs
Running a Gem Slicer costs €90–120 a year in normal use and the annual service takes about an hour. Round-the-clock cutting costs more: parts and costs, itemised. The parts are the same on both models.
| Part | Per machine | Replace | Price | Where to buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bearing 6001 RS (12 × 28 × 8 mm, sealed) | 15 | full set at about 3,000 operating hours | €4–6 each | any bearing shop, or from us |
| Guide roller, polyamide | 5 | by wear, about every three months | about €1 each | from us |
| V-belt 10 × 375 (Optibelt or equivalent) | 1 | five years, or when visibly worn | under €10 | any supplier, or from us |
| Coolant pump | 1 | about two years in normal use | €60 | from us |
| Diamond wire, 0.22 mm | consumable | as it wears | 1,000 m in the box | from us |
Nothing on that list is proprietary. The bearings are a standard size you can buy in any bearing shop in any country. That is deliberate: a machine that can only be repaired with parts from its manufacturer is a machine that stops working when the manufacturer does. The linear guides, the X-axis ball screw, the sensors and the collet have not needed replacing on any machine so far.
The Service Schedule
Bearings, at 3,000 operating hours. By then the bottom rollers have play; since the machine is open, replace the full set of fifteen. The machine counts its own hours from Z-axis running time and shows them on screen, so the interval is real running time rather than a date in a diary. Cutting around the clock reaches 3,000 hours in about four months.
Greasing, every six months. The linear guides, the X-axis ball screw and the Z-axis and reel bearings. They run slowly and under little load, so regular grease is what keeps them going.
Once a year: the X cover and the drain. The X table sets your slice thickness. It is protected against splashes but is not sealed, so it carries a drain that takes away any water that gets under the cover. Open the cover, inspect, and check the drain.
Printed Parts
The load-bearing structure is aluminium with stainless bolts. The parts that carry no load — caps, covers, water guards — are 3D printed. If one breaks, we send you the file and the print settings and you make it yourself. If you have no printer, we ship it. The guide roller guards we always ship ourselves.
Warranty
Two years, all customers, worldwide — the same term whether you buy as a company or as an individual, on every machine we make.
It covers the machine. It does not cover consumables and wear parts — diamond wire, guide rollers, bearings, belts, polishing discs, laps and abrasives — nor damage from misuse or from third-party accessories fitted to the machine.
Software support, updates and cutting advice are included for the life of the machine, not for the length of the warranty. How remote access and updates work is described on the software page.
Getting Help
Write to office@nextequipment.eu with the machine and what it is doing. If it is faster to look than to describe, we can connect to the machine over AnyDesk and see the screen ourselves.
